In 1992 the Adams Hydraulics Limited Group acquired a successful, long established moulding shop producing Glassfibre Reinforced Plastic (GRP) products. The mould shop was re-launched as Adams Composites and, through the expertise of the Adams Group, is now able to provide a diverse product range, bespoke design service including Finite Element Analysis-the capability to manufacture patterns in-house, site installation and project planning services.
Now fully integrated within the Adams Group, Adams Composites supplies a wide range of durable, high performance products to the water and sewage sector, as well as to a wide and diverse range of other industries. The opportunities for innovation and economy from GRP – it is versatile, lightweight, corrosion proof, easy to clean, tough and largely maintenance free – are recognised not only by the Petrochemical, Marine and Aerospace Industries, but also by the fire protection and automotive sectors. Each of these requires high levels of technical expertise, performance and quality control to satisfy the exacting demands placed upon them.
Adams Composites inherent technical knowledge and experience has now been expanded by the existing Adams engineering team, allowing many new products to be developed further to improve our capabilities. Adams work closely with their customers to ensure that the products they require perform in accordance with their expectations, and importantly the specification.
By giving advice and guidance on design of the product and the structure of the composite material, tool design, organising and monitoring test programmes and putting the project into production, the Division has been enable to offer an invaluable service to a variety of clients. This has resulted in a wide range of product knowledge and technical appreciation of operational problems with the ability to offer viable, cost effective and innovative solutions.
The majority of Adams Composites products are hand laminated. However, through a DTI grant, which was awarded to us in July 1996, Adams Composites have developed expertise in manufacture by vacuum infusion, which has since seen us implement this on certain product ranges.
